Dog Moms Are Proud

There was a day when people would whip out their wallets and show you a physical picture of their kids and family. Fast forward to today where we cart around our 60,000 plus photos in our phone. What kind of picture is most often shared today with friends and coworkers? That's right it is pictures and videos of our Fur Babies.

With that said let's celebrate National Pet Parent Days. Most people don't understand the role as a Fur Baby Parent. Many people today have chosen not to have kids or are waiting. As a result, there are many rescue pets which is wonderful. It's a win win for the Pet parent and the pet.

The benefits and joys of being a Fur Baby Parent. A Pet Parent has the same responsibilities as a a Parent of a Human child. There is the need to nurture both mentally and nutritionally. Secondly, the Pet Parent must find the right Veterinarian for their Fur Baby. It is two fold, the Veterinarian and the Pet Parent need to be on the same page for care, development and critical decisions for the Fur baby. Last but not least the Pet Parent must provide shelter that is safe. Whether the Fur Baby is at home during the day, attends a day care with other pets, etc.

The role of Pet Parent is equal to that of a Parent of a Human. I speak from experience. I have adult children, grandkids and currently 2 Fur Babies of my own (Duke is an Australian Cattle Dog and RIP is a rescue cat.) I also have four grand dogs and a grand bearded dragon. All in all our family members may look different, behave different and have different nutritional and care needs. At the end of the day, they all fill our hearts, give us purpose and the joy and comfort that they give us is far greater than we could ever give them.
